Matthew Gerard Ball

Engraved wood inlaid with wire — steel built into standing form.

About

My style is built around straight lines that cut clean through negative space, sharp geometric silhouettes, and a hard contrast between matte black and mirror-bright surfaces. I lean into precision — tight linework, exact angles, edges that actually hold — then break that precision on purpose, dropping one organic shape into an otherwise rigid composition. That tension between structure and surprise is the throughline in everything I build, flat panel or freestanding.
